This year's 2025 Wickets & Wine event was held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 11Am until 3PM under hot sunny skies of Roanoke, VA at the historic Fishburn Mansion .
Hosted by Friends of Mountain View, Inc., Roanoke Valley Preservation Foundation, Inc., and Roanoke City Parks & Recreation, this annual fundraising event created an opportunity for attendees to dress in their croquet white linen shirts, pants, and dresses – with matching hats of course – to sip wine and Champagne on the mansion's front veranda while watching others having a “mahvelous” time playing croquet on the front lawns of Roanoke’s Historic Mountain View mansion 'kicking off' the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.
The ticket price of $50 included a boxed lunch prepared by Schaals Catering, unlimited freshly cooked popcorn, ice-cooled lemonade and water available in the mansion's grand dining room, croquet on the lawn, other board games available in the library, and presentations on the mansion's history followed by self-guided tours of the mansion's first and second floors. Participants could even win prizes in a variety of categories including Best Dressed,. participating in the 2025 Raffle, or completing and submitting their entry in the event's Trivia Contest.

A Shout Out and THANK YOU to Our Event Sponsors and Volunteers:
We graciously thank our event sponsors for without their support this event would not be possible! This year, there were three (3) levels of sponsorships: Event Sponsor--$1500; Court Sponsor--$750; and Friend Sponsor --$350. Each sponsor's company logo was included on all digital marketing materials (including Roanoke Parks and Recreation, Friends of Mountain View and Roanoke Valley Preservation Foundation websites, newsletters, emails, and social media posts) and was sized according to sponsorship level. Event level sponsors also received a designated dressed table and chairs on the front porch overlooking the croquet courts with a complimentary basket of goodies complemented with flowers and a bottle of wine.
WE ALSO THANK ROANOKE PARKS & RECREATION and OUR VOLUNTEERS who without their assistance who planned the event, set everything up, tore it all down and cleaned up afterwards, this event would not have been possible!
THANK YOU
